HOW TO CLEAN YOUR PHONE AND CASE
We just love the way a brand new Tech21 case looks, don’t you? Whether you've bought one of our brand new iPhone 13 cases, Samsung S21 cases or S22 cases, you're going to want to look after it but unfortunately, with time (and the oils in our hands and our faces!), your phone cases may start to look dingy and carry tons of dirt and unhygienic microbes.
Here are some TLC tips we recommend to help keep your case and phone looking new for longer:
- Wipe your case frequently with a warm water and mild dish soap solution or low-alcohol solution (anything that can be used to clean screens or glasses will work).
-
Remove the case from your device and give both a thorough wipe-down for best results.
Pro Tip: Tech21 cases are easily removable when you work them off from the bottom of the phone.
- Use a microfibre cloth when wiping or an old soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub stubborn stains.
- Packing or sticky tape can be used to remove dust.
CLEANING SCREEN PROTECTORS
Your tempered glass screen protector may have dust and debris trapped on its sides. To clean it, carefully peel off the screen protector with your credit/debit card. Then, using a solution of mild dish soap and water sponge it over the front of the screen protector and wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
For the sticky side of the screen protector, place strips of packing tape across the tempered glass. Peel them off slowly, removing the dust and dirt in the process. Remove all the tape strips then gently place the screen protector back onto the cleaned surface of your phone screen.

TECH21'S WARRANTY AND TESTING
For that peace of mind, all Tech21 products come with a 1-year limited* warranty from the date of purchase. Find out more information on Tech21's warranty policy here.
At Tech21, we put our cases through a strenuous testing procedure to ensure that they are the very best in the biz. In an industry first, together with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) we have developed a series of methodologies for testing phone cases to ensure scientifically proven protection - from impact protection to radio frequency.
1. DROP TESTING
First, we have probably the most obvious testing that we do: testing for cases’ impact protection. So, how do we do this? We have a unique testing facility at the NPL, where we have our custom-built test rig. We test each case 20 times with the drop rig, ensuring that the cases offer protection drop after drop…
2. HYGIENICALLY TESTED
Most of our cases now come with a built-in antimicrobial formula, which reduces microbes by 99.99%, keeping your phone case fresher and cleaner for longer. This protective technology isn’t just a coating, it’s incorporated throughout the case material at the point of manufacture, ensuring that your case is protected for its entire lifetime. The formula reduces odour-causing and staining microbes, such as mould, and helps protect against material degradation, keeping your case hygienically clean.
3. RADIO FREQUENCY TESTING
At the NPL, we have access to radio frequency testing facilities. The NPL runs one of the world’s most comprehensive capabilities for traceable measurement of basic electromagnetic parameters at RF and Microwave frequencies. The National Standards and measurement capability are maintained specifically to support UK industry, engineers and scientists. Experience gained in their development gives the RF and Microwave metrologist’s at NPL unique knowledge that can be invaluable when working with industrial collaborators and end-users to help remove their measurement barriers to innovation.
4. UV EXPOSURE TESTING
UV light exposure can have a dramatic negative effect on your phone case in the form of discolouring and wear. Working with the NPL gives us access to specialized services and equipment to evaluate our materials, with testing that simulates exposure to ultraviolet light. UV-accelerated weathering or exposure testing allows us to perfect our materials so that over time our cases stay in the same condition as when they came out of the box.
5. SCRATCH AND ABRASION TESTING
Last, but not least, we test around the effects of scratching and abrasion on the cases by using a variety of specialized machines. Using these machines, abrasion, caused by particles rubbing against a moving surface, can be tested and measured for all of the materials used. This allows us to modify the materials to ensure that they are as resilient against scratching and abrasion as possible.
UNBEATABLE HYGIENE PROTECTION
Unfortunately, discolouration of phone cases is eventually inevitable. Your phone goes everywhere with you, from sitting on a restaurant table to that great selfie with the perfect lighting in the bathroom – it is bound to pick up some visible memories along the way!
In the meantime, if you take care of your case, your case will take care of you! #DropAfterDrop #HygienicProtection
